Antenatal Test
Antenatal Test in Johor Bahru and Skudai
Antenatal tests are an important part of pregnancy care. They help doctors assess your overall health, detect infections, and monitor how your body is adapting to pregnancy. Early testing ensures that any potential issues can be identified and managed before they affect you or your baby.
At Klinik Caring, Impian Emas, we provide a complete range of antenatal tests, including blood tests and urine FEME (Full Examination and Microscopic Examination), during your first pregnancy visit. These tests give a detailed picture of your health and are an essential step in ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Why Antenatal Tests Are Important
Antenatal tests help to:• Identify infections that can affect the baby, such as HIV, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis
• Detect anaemia, which can cause fatigue and limit oxygen supply to the baby
• Determine your blood type and Rhesus (Rh) factor to prevent complications in current or future pregnancies
• Monitor kidney function and detect urinary tract infections (through urine FEME)
• Provide a baseline of your overall health at the start of pregnancy
Detecting and addressing problems early ensures safer management throughout pregnancy and supports your baby’s healthy development.
What Is Included in the Antenatal Test
1. Blood Tests
HIV Screening• Detects the presence of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
• If detected early, treatment can greatly reduce the risk of passing the infection to your baby.
Hepatitis B Screening
• Checks if you have Hepatitis B infection or are protected by antibodies.
• If positive, your baby can receive specific injections at birth to prevent infection.
Syphilis Test (VDRL)
• Detects an infection that, if untreated, can cause serious pregnancy complications.
• Early treatment with antibiotics is highly effective.
Full Blood Count (FBC)
• Measures haemoglobin, white blood cells, and platelets.
• Helps detect anaemia, infection, or blood-related problems.
Blood Group and Rhesus (Rh) Factor
• Determines your blood type (A, B, AB, or O) and whether it is Rh positive or Rh negative.
• If you are Rh negative and your baby is Rh positive, preventive medication will be given to avoid future complications.
Additional Tests (when indicated)
• Thyroid function, blood sugar, vitamin D, or iron studies may be added if needed.
2. Urine FEME
The urine FEME test helps detect early changes in the urinary system. It checks for:• Protein in urine, which may indicate kidney problems or pre-eclampsia (a pregnancy condition with high blood pressure and swelling)
• Sugar in urine, which may be an early sign of gestational diabetes
• Bacteria or white blood cells, which indicate urinary tract infection (UTI)
• Blood in urine, which may suggest infection or stones
This test is quick, simple, and part of every antenatal visit at Klinik Caring. Regular monitoring ensures that any changes are detected early and managed promptly.
When Antenatal Tests Are Done
